Treating cancer personally is more than just medical care; it’s taking care of the whole person before, during and after treatment. We’re here to educate and support you as you return to living a cancer-free life.
Part of surviving cancer is moving on and having the best possible quality of life. Taking the time to learn how to take care of yourself and spending time with other survivors can be fun and rewarding. We have regularly scheduled events and activities to help our patients and families navigate through the physical, social and psychological effects of treatment. Topics include how to manage:
The American Cancer Society has created an easy-to-read guide, Life After Treatment, to help cancer survivors and their loved ones understand the after-cancer journey. The National Cancer Institute also has a helpful and informative booklet, Facing Forward, Life After Treatment.
Treatment can take a toll on you. Drugs can cause weight gain. Diets change. Energy levels change. Your ability to exercise and be active may diminish. We’re committed to helping you return to feeling like the person you were and doing the things you enjoyed before treatment.
Our goal is to help you improve the overall health of cancer survivors by focusing on nutrition and exercise. There are many benefits. First, you feel better and are able to do the things you did before cancer. Second, being physically fit can decrease your risk of cancer recurrence and cardiovascular disease.
